II-process for Subscribing to the 56USNA Group

Mushalko is working with Pete Randrup to create a more user friendly/simplified
approach to adding your name to the list and to making changes once you are
added to the list. We are aware that
the current
approach is complex and keeps many from even trying. With an improvement we hope to have all
classmates, wives and widows on the group mailing. In the interim we will continue with the current version as spelled out below.
IF YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY WITH THE STEPS BELOW CONTACT PETE RANDRUP, AND HE'LL TAKE CARE OF IT FOR YOU. OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE EVERY CLASSMATE AND WIDOW ON THE LIST.
THE PROCESS FOR
SUBSCRIBING TO 56USNA
Is done in these four easy steps* as described below:

1: Contact Pete Randrup for Access to
Yahoo Groups
Step 2:
Receive Yahoo Invitation Form for Review
Step 3:
Complete Invitation Form
Step 4:
Follow-Up to ascertain that you are on the 56 USNA Address List and can make
selections
(1)Contact Pete Randrup by email at hardhead@1956.usna.com
or phone, 410-243-0552.
(2) You will then receive an invitation
message from “Yahoo Groups.” This invitation message is a way for Yahoo to ensure that the
request is legitimate. With your affirmative response to the Yahoo Groups
message, a follow-up message from Yahoo will provide you with the actual steps
in gaining first Yahoo Groups
membership and then subscribing to
the 56USNA group.
( NOTE: The Yahoo Groups membership process is mainly
for them to know who is using their email group system. However, it does
have a marketing aspect as well. You may ignore the marketing aspect by not
providing answers to those questions. )

Complete and Submit the Yahoo Invitation Form: Only need to provide the basics, i.e., your name, your address, and
your preferred e-mail address ID for
56USNA (suggested as an ID, your name ending with '56'
and no spacing -- e.g., joegish56 ).
---Also, provide your choice of a
personal password. Record this information in
your files for future reference. The ID and password are
used frequently.
(for good security it is suggested that you use a combination of letters
and numerals in the password) (You will need your ID and Password when making
changes to your email preferences, or changing your ID and/or password )
NOTE; If you execute the changes to the Yahoo form and have not
provided some information that they need, Yahoo will notify you immediately of this.
Then you should reply to the Yahoo request and provide the information that
they need.
(4) Follow-Up to Ascertain Added to the List and can make selections: Having completed the above, you will be
quickly placed into the subscription list of 56USNA. To check this, go to
the 56USNA yahoo groups home page found at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/56USNA
At the top of that home page your
will see a web link titled “Sign In.” Enter your Yahoo ID
and your password to sign in. After you sign it the home page will appear with
a link at the top Click that link and you will see a new page with places to
enter your Yahoo ID and your password.
Make those entries and then click Sign
In which is located below the entries. That will take you back to the home
page and you will be signed in. That home page provides information regarding
the following subjects:
MAIL OPTIONS -- ATTACHMENTS --
SUBJECTS HANDLED -- SIGNATURE --
DIRECTORY SERVICE -- NOTIFYING
YAHOO GROUPS OF EMAIL ADDRESS CHANGE --
and COMPANION GROUPS --
If you want to make selections or
changes with regard to your choices on those subjects, click on the link “Edit Membership” at the top of the home page. It is a good idea to click
this link and verify that you can access the several feature links, e.g. Mail
Options, Email Address Change, etc.

FEATURES
(1) Making Changes Once Enrolled. (e.g.
**Stopping Email While Away) : Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/56USNA
and click the link at the top of the web page “Sign In.” Enter your Yahoo ID and password and sign in.
Then click on the link “Edit Membership” at the top of the page.
That will take you to a web page where you can make your entries regarding:
Yahoo! Profile, Email
Address, **Message Delivery, and
Message Format. Then click Save Changes.

Subscribing to Subsets of 56USNA (Like 56WB-A): Having completed the above, you may wish to
subscribe to another Yahoo Groups list. For example, one group many
'56ers in the Baltimore-Annapolis-Washington region subscribe to is 56WB-A. To join
it, send a blank message (no Subject) to 56WB-A-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
and you are aboard! (only works this easily if already a member of 56USNA
